Mazda guides still not correct?

Really appreciate Matvey's info from this thread. Made me double-check a few things. I have a 2009 Mazda 5 and am using an EVO-ONE https://fortin.ca/en/qa/64323/install-guide-mistakes?show=64323#q64323 1. Guide 24761 also shows the white wire from the main harness as the parking light wire. Wondering if that is incorrect and should be updated to something else? 2. The CAN wires are also labelled incorrectly. They should be the same as 22061. I can send a pic to wirecolor to show this also if you want

i have trierd to cancel my order many different ways how can i stop it before it ships

after reading the awful reviews of your product and trying to understand all the false advertising you throw at it. for example plug and play, this does not mean having to cut and splice 6 wires in 3 different spots this is hardwiring not plug and play like others. also you dont tell people in clear plain language that they will be required to dump more money into a flash link if they wish for the the system to work what so ever and you cleaqrly claim comes with the latest firmware for that vehicle but for some reason needs an extra 40 dollar part to work. and after almost 48 hours since order you are still working on packaging as if taking a box off a shelf and putting it inside another box takes 2 full days. why will you not just cancel the order like a reputiabnle company would

Specifically, what issues will wire taps cause on tx rx wires?

They may be the last hope as to why my 80 bit will not program evo ride.

The wire I am supposed to plug into the back of a connector has no plug on the end.

2010 Maxima. I called tech support an was told to break the leg off of a diode, solder it to the wire & jam it in there. Seems like some ghetto wire maintenance. Is there a better, more secure way? Thanks

2011 Mazda2 power lock will not work..power unlock works fine - D2D connection.

Remote starter : Viper875XV

Bypass: Fortin EVO-ALL

Connection: D2D (Both Evo-ALL and Viper set to D2D)

EVO-ALL flashed to recommended Firmware.  EVO-ALL programmed fine (both CAN data and Transponder) - used 2 keys.

The issue I was having was that the EVO-ALL will not lock the car.  When using the remote starter fob to lock the car,  the car actually unlocks.  Unlock command works fine.  The car has a multiplex lock/unlock wire.  Lock requires 1000ohm resistor, unlock requires straight ground. As per manual/guide, the green/red wire of EVO-ALL is connected to the specified wire in the car (dark green wire in gray connector - Factory alarm arm/disarm wire of the vehicle) It seems like the EVO-ALL is not supplying the 1000ohm resistance.  I also tried turning off the D2D of Evo-ALL and hardwired (W2W) the connection between the remote starter and evo-all but it was still doing the same thing.

I ended up wiring the remote starter power lock/unlock directly to the car using the correct resistor and everything works fine. Everything else was set to d2d but with the analog green/red wire disconnected - hope it is fine combining d2d and w2w.

I was just wondering if this is a known issue and if it is, what the solition is.  If it is new, what could have been the problem? This will be just  an FYI for future installs as this particular car is gone.

Thanks.

FAQ - Getting Started - Vehicle Wire Color and Photograph FAQ

Fortin Electronic Systems has released a new online vehicle wiring database. Below are answers to common questions regarding access to this service.

What is this service used for?
Fortin Electronic Systems has decided to provide additional wiring information to our customers who purchase our premier products. Since our objective is to simplify remote-starter and alarm-system installations we felt that this additional information would be beneficial to those installers who use our products to make their jobs easier.

Can I use this service if I don't have a Fortin product?
We only provide this service to those who purchase our premier products. You will need an activation key to unlock vehicle wiring information and photographs. See: Where do I get my activation key?

What is an activation key used for?

An activation key is used to unlock free vehicle wiring information and photographs of any vehicle of your choice. Vehicles that have at least 10 wires or 1 photograph are locked and require this key to unlock. Vehicles with less than 10 wires or no photographs are not locked and do not require an activation key.

The 20-digit registration key received after my account registration doesn't unlock wiring.
The 20-digit email confirmation key used during registration is not the same as the 16-digit activation key required to unlock wiring. See: Where do I get my activation key?

Where do I get my activation key?
Activation keys are printed on a black card (3" x 5") and included in the packaging with premier FLASH-LINK update-able Fortin bypass and interface modules. The activation keys are currently only being packaged with the following products: EVO-ALL, EVO-CAN, INT-SL+, KEY-OVERRIDE-ALL

My Fortin product didn't come with an activation key, what now?
Activation keys are only provided with the products listed above. If you purchased a product that is not listed above then all of the information required to install the product is already listed in the generic installation manual including all relevant wire colors required for the installation of the product. If you require additional connection information for the remote-starter you will require to contact the manufacturer of the remote-starter.

My Fortin product is listed but still didn't come with an activation key, what now?
These keys have only been available since December 1st 2008. If you purchased one of the products listed above and it did not include an activation key then your supplier has stock which was packaged before the date in which we started including activation keys. A resellers stock will take much longer to rotate. If you purchase from a reseller and wish to receive more recent stock then you should purchase our products from a direct distributor instead of purchasing from a reseller. Refer to the list of direct distributors or by clicking on the distributor tab above.

I  didn't purchase a Fortin product but I still need wiring information for my vehicle, can you help me?
See: Can I get a free activation key?

Can I get a free activation key?
Although the card with the activation key has little monetary value the vehicle wiring service is not free and there are costs associated with the setup, the maintenance and upgrades for this service. Because there are costs associated with providing this service to our customers we are unable to provide free activation keys upon request. Activation keys are only available with the products listed above and are not for individual or bulk sale.

I'm curious to view how the service works. If you wish to see how the service works there is a demo available for the Mitsubishi Lancer - Fast Kelss (2008-2014).

I lost my activation key, where can I get a new one?
We cannot retrieve lost or missing activation keys. Every activation key is unique and is independent of the products that are packaged with. We are unable provide a replacement activation key if one is lost. See: Where do I get my activation key?

How do I use my activation key to unlock vehicle wiring?
Go to wirecolor.com >Register a new account and verify your email address by clicking on the link provided in the email that is sent to your email address after registration. If you are already registered and have verified your account continue below. Log in to your account. If you have forgotten your password use the forgot password link to learn how to change your password.Choose a vehicle from the drop-down list at the top-right of the page. Enter your 16-digit activation key.

How many vehicles does my activation key unlock?
Only one vehicle can be unlocked for each unqiue activation key. The vehicle must be selected and you must be logged in to your account to enter the activation key. See: How do I use my activation key to unlock vehicle wiring?

When can I use my activation key to unlock a vehicle?
An activation key will can be used at any time to unlock any vehicle of your choice. Once the activation key has expired it can no longer be used.

Why do I need to be logged in to my account to use my activation key?
Once an activation key is used it is automatically assigned to your account so you do not need to re-enter your activation key when you revisit a previously unlocked vehicle.

Once I use my activation key to unlock a vehicle how long is it valid for?
Once an activation key is used to unlock a vehicle, that vehicle is available from your account for 2 days.

How often should I check for new information?
New vehicles and information on existing vehicles are added often, so check back frequently for new and updated information.

FAQ - KEY-OVERRIDE Installation Supplement

This is an installation supplement for the KEY-OVERRIDE-SL, KEY-OVERRIDE-SL2 and the KEY-OVERRIDE ALL. It describes how to locate the required Data, Syncro, Security LED, Rx (receive) or Tx (transmit) wires at the vehicles PATS connector. In some cases the colors of both of these wires differ and they may even differ between the same year of a specific vehicle. Because of this difference wire colors may not be listed and method 5 (below) may need to be used to determine the location of the wires in the PATS harness. 1. Refer to the individual connection types in the generic installation manual. Wire colors are listed in some sections for specific connection types for most vehicles. If the vehicle is not listed or the wire color does not match the ones listed then continue below. 2. Refer to the vehicle specific installation guides provided in the files section of the KEY-OVERRIDE-ALL. There are currently more than 250 separate installation guides which cover most of the vehicles covered by the KEY-OVERRIDE-ALL.

FAQ - Honda/Acura stalls immediately after remote-started.

Problem:

Mode/Type 3 vehicles on HONDA-SL2 or HONDA-SL3 stall immediately after remote-started.

The vehicles battery is either poor or the ambient temperature is low enough that the battery cannot produce enough current during remote-start. The reduced current output of the battery causes the voltage to drop below 6volts DC during crank, where the vehicle's ECM resets several times. This can be easily seen by viewing the cluster while starting the vehicle. The cluster will blink (on/off) several times while cranking, and each time the cluster turns off then on the ECM has reset.

Solution:

Upgrade the HONDA-SL2 to version 1.1 or the HONDA-SL3 to version 1.4 or above.

FAQ - Why an INT series module is required for remote-starter installations with an electronic ignition.

This vehicle is equipped with an electronic ignition and traditional key barrel wiring from the remote-starter will not function. An electronic ignition vehicle does not have the normally associated Ignition, Accessory and Starter wires for the remote-starter to connect to and control. An INT series interface module will automatically control the electronic ignition based on the Ignition, Accessory and Starter input signals received from the remote-starter. Furthermore, the INT series interface modules do not bypass the factory transponder, therefore and additional PATS bypass kit is required to complete the remote-starter installation.

FAQ - KEY-OVERRIDE-ALL Programming Diagnostics

The KEY-OVERRIDE-ALL can only be programmed a limited number of times to a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury or Toyota/Lexus vehicle before it becomes locked and will no longer accept programming with a new vehicle. If you find that you are having trouble programming the module on a vehicle, the following simple procedures can be performed to determine the programming and locked status of the module.

1) To determine if the module is programmed
Unplug all connections.DO NOT hold the programming switch during the next step.Plug in the Data-Link Cable (Connector #1).This can be done on the bench with a 12VDC power supply. Red Wire: +12VDC, Black Wire: Ground.

If the LED remains off the module is currently programmed with a vehicle (To determine if it is locked see below). If the LED either flashes or comes on and remains solid the module is currently NOT programmed with a vehicle.

2) To determine if the module is locked
Unplug all connections. Press and hold the programming switch during the next step. Plug in the Data-Link Cable (Connector #1). This can be done on the bench with a 12VDC power supply. Red Wire: +12VDC, Black Wire: Ground.

If the LED turns ON the module is NOT locked and will accept programming with a vehicle. If the LED flashes the module is locked and will NOT accept programming with a new vehicle.

Please note the following:
The module is sealed at the factory with a tamper-proof sticker on the bag to indicate to the installer whether or not the module may have been previously used. If the seal is broken there is a possibility that the module have been programmed and may even be locked. If the tamper-proof sticker is still intact the module is neither programmed nor locked. The module can only be locked after it has been programmed. If the module is not programmed it can not become locked. The module can only be programmed if the firmware supports the vehicle, the module recognizes the vehicle, and the module installation is done properly (this does not include the remote-starter installation). All of these conditions must be met in order to properly program the module with vehicle. If you determine that the module has been programmed using procedure 1 above, and the vehicle will not remote-start, the problem exists in the remote-starter installation. Attempting to program with an other module will not fix the existing problem will only produce the exact same results. If procedure 2 above indicates that the module is locked, return the unit to your distributor for an exchange. We only honour exchanges up to 1 year past the data of manufacture on defective modules or modules that are locked. The Manufacture Date (MD) is indicated on the sticker of the module (MD: week-year). We verify all returns and non-defective / non-locked modules will be returned to the customer at their expense.

FAQ - How To Disable OEM Alarm on Ford/Lincoln 2010+ Vehicles

To disarm the OEM alarm, you need to pulse ignition, accessory and activate the transponder bypass at the same time that the unlock signal sent from the remote starter. The accessory is not required on all models and requires that you test with and without that connection. Parts required: 1 x Automotive Universal Relay 3 x 1Amp Diodes 1 x 1Amp Diode (Optional for triggering ACC if needed) 1 x 1 Foot of Wire 1) Connect the (-)Disarm and (-)Ground While Running coming from the Remote Starter to the Ground While Running to the EVO-Bypass and to Pin #86 on the relay. Use 2 diodes to isolate the two connections. The diodes should have the band side facing towards the Remote Starter. 2) Connect a (+)12 Volt Constant to Pin #87 and Pin #85 3) Connect One diode to Ignition (also connect a Second diode to ACC if the vehicle needs it) with the band facing away from the relay to pin #30.

FAQ - BCM will not learn bypass kit transponder.

Problem:

The installer is unable to program the bypass kit's onboard transponder into the vehicle's BCM (Body Control Module).

In the majorority of these cases the remote starter timing is not fast enough to enable the vehicle's ignition and the bypass kit's transponder output so the vehicle's BCM times-out in the middle of the installation programming procedure.

Solution:

The vehicle and bypass kit will need to be 'hot-wired' near the end of the programming sequence in order to enable the Bypass kit's output before the BCM times-out. In most cases (referring to most bypass kit programming procedure) once the second key has been removed the vehicle's ignition will need to be powered up and the bypass kit's ground-out-while-running input will need to be grounded. In some cases the vehicle's 2nd ignition or accessory wire will also need to be powered up and furthermore on very select few models the key sense wire will also need to be grounded.

FAQ - TSB (08-007-08) - 2006-2008 Chrysler WCM No Start

NUMBER: 08-007-08
GROUP: Electrical
DATE: March 04, 2008
SUBJECT: No Engine Crank Or No Engine Start Due To Electronic Lockup Of The WCM / SKREEM

This bulletin involves the replacement of the Wireless Control Module (WCM). The WCM is also referred to as the Sentry Key Remote Entry Module (SKREEM).

Problem:

The customer may experience a no engine crank and/or a no engine start condition. Also, the remote keyless entry (RKE) system may not operate.

This condition may be due to an electrostatic discharge (ESD) from the ignition key into the Wireless Control Module (WCM), causing the WCM to electronically lockup. This condition may occur more frequently in dry and/or cold weather conditions where a sufficient electrostatic charge is more easily produced. This condition is corrected by the replacement of the WCM.

Until the WCM is replaced, the WCM may be reset (unlocked) by either: disconnecting and then reconnect the battery negative cable at the battery, or by removing the IOD fuse (with the key out of the ignition switch), waiting 30 seconds, and reinstall the IOD fuse.

Solution:

DIAGNOSIS:
1. With the vehicle in the no crank / no start condition, connect the StarSCAN scan tool to the vehicle.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and power up the StarSCAN.
3. If the WCM is electronically locked up, the StarSCAN will display the WCM as being off bus.
4. If the no crank / no start condition is present, and the WCM is off bus, then reset the WCM by temporarily removing the IOD fuse (with the key out of the ignition switch), waiting for 30 seconds and then reinstalling the IOD fuse.
5. If the above condition has occurred, and if the part number of the WCM is earlier than the part number of the WCM listed in the parts list in the Service Bulletin, then perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Replace the WCM/SKREEM. Refer to TechCONNECT for detailed service information. From the Service Info tab select: 8 - Electrical > Vehicle Theft Security - Service  Information > Module, Sentry Key Remote Entry > Removal and Installation.

NOTE: After a WCM/SKREEM is replaced, the ignition/transponder keys need to be programmed to a new WCM/SKREEM. Follow the directions on the StarSCAN. The transponder key for the SKREEM/WCM and the RKE will be programmed during this operation. There is no need to program the fob of the key for RKE functionality once the transponder key is programmed to the new WCM/SKREEM.

FAQ - KEY-OVERRIDE appears to program but Toyota/Lexus will not remote-start

The support article applies to remote car starter installations with either a KEY-OVERRIDE-SL, KEY-OVERRIDE-SL2 or a KEY-OVERRIDE-ALL on Toyota or Lexus vehicles.

Problem:

The KEY-OVERRIDE Bypass module appears to program with Toyota and Lexus vehicles, but the vehicle will fail to remote start. When remote starting the vehicle the LED on the KEY-OVERRIDE will flash rapidly instead of staying solid.

In some rare cases the KEY-OVERRIDE will fail to synchronize itself with the rolling transponder code during programming. The key being used uses a transponder code that the KEY-OVERRIDE module does not recognize. This situation will only occur during the initial installation of the KEY-OVERRIDE Bypass module and will not occur at any time afterwards.

Solution:

Use a valet key and re-program the KEY-OVERRIDE Bypass module.
Important: Do not attempt to reprogram the KEY-OVERRIDE module a second time using the same key. If this happens the KEY-OVERRIDE module will become locked and a new KEY-OVERRIDE module will need to be used to program using the valet key.

Note: The KEY-OVERRIDE Bypass module will allow you to program it two times before it becomes locked. Once it is locked you cannot unlock it by re-flashing the firmware, it must be re-flashed at the factory. This is a safety feature that prevents the module from being learned to multiple vehicles.

FAQ - KEY-OVERRIDE will not program with cloned key from a locksmith

Problem:

The KEY-OVERRIDE will not program when using a key that was cut by a either a locksmith or a retailer that sells counterfeit cloned keys.

A key that is provided by a locksmith is a counterfeit cloned key that is not stored as a "master" key in the vehicles memory. Although these keys will start the vehicle, they can not be used to program additional keys including a Bypass module. When programming a KEY-OVERRIDE module two authentic "master" keys must be used in order for the Bypass module to program properly.

Solution:

The two keys being used to program the KEY-OVERRIDE Bypass modules must be a combination of original keys that came with the vehicle, or an authentic replacement that was cut and programmed at a dealership. If an existing key is not from one of the previous sources; the customer must go to the dealership to have an authentic "master" key cut and programmed to the vehicle before programming the KEY-OVERRIDE Bypass module.

FAQ - TSB (08-42A-013) - F.A.S.T. Key does not function in Keyless Operation System (K.O.S.) mode

No: TSB-08-42A-013
DATE: July, 2008
MODEL:
2008 Outlander
2008-09 Lancer
2008 Lancer Evolution
Affected vehicles built prior to May, 2008.

Problem:

Some customers of affected vehicles may complain they are unable to operate the Keyless Operation System (K.O.S.) using the F.A.S.T. key feature.

The F.A.S.T. key (fob) may have lost its programming due to data in its memory being erased by electrical interference from a device such as a mobile phone. This can occur if the two devices are kept in close proximity to each other.
Should you confirm the condition, replace both of the customer's F.A.S.T. keys with improved parts that will reduce the possibility of accidental erasure of coded data due to electrical interference.

Solution:

REPAIR PROCEDURE

The following conditions must be confirmed in an environment that is free from interference from electronic accessories, mobile phones, or facilities emitting strong electrical signals that could affect K.O.S. communication.

    * You are unable to turn the ignition knob from the "Lock" position. Also, "Missing Key" is displayed on the MID screen when trying to turn the ignition knob.
    * Generally, no DTCs will be stored in the PCM, however, DTC B1A08, B1A09, B1A0A or B1A0B may be stored in some occasions. If DTCs other than these are stored in PCM memory, do not continue with this TSB. Diagnose and repair per the service manual.

Replace the F.A.S.T. keys with an improved part if your evaluation confirms BOTH of these conditions. Refer to the service manual or the AESP (Advanced Electrical Service Procedures) study manual and use the MUT-III to register the new F.A.S.T. keys to the vehicle. Remember to register RKE functions for the new keys as well.
Customers should be reminded that the emergency key stored in the F.A.S.T. key can be used to start the vehicle when the K.O.S. system is not functioning. Dealers should advise customers to to review their owner's manual for instructions to prevent unnecessary towing in the future. See below.
